Buying Duvets and Pillows
It is not recommended to buy pillows and duvets for your baby until he or she is about a year old. This is because for younger babies, duvets and pillows can restrict movement and make him or her too hot during the night. However, once your baby is a year old you may decide to start using a duvet instead of blankets and sheets or a sleeping bag. This can be a good idea as it helps the baby to get used to the idea, making a transition into a proper child’s bed easier, and it will be easier for you, as bed making will be much easier than with blankets and sheets.
Duvets and quilts can be purchased with a variety of different fillings. A hypoallergenic option may be a good idea, even if you haven't yet discovered any allergies in your baby. When buying a quilt, you should look for a cover that is 100% pure cotton. It is also a good idea to have a spare one for when the first one is in the wash.
Pillows are not really a necessary purchase until your baby moves into a "big kid" bed.
